Ski Jump

Time the take-off at the lip of the ramp and the landing at the bottom. Three jumps.

About the Ski Jump

Ski jumping looks like flying, but it is decided in two brief moments: the push at the end of the ramp, and the landing. This event asks you to time both.

How it works

The skier starts at the top and gathers speed down the curved ramp. It takes a little over two seconds to reach the red edge at the end. Tap as he gets there.

That first tap is the important one. A take-off timed right at the lip sends the skier a long way down the hill. The further your tap is from that moment, early or late, the shorter the flight. If you tap much too soon, or not at all, he simply slides off the end and lands near the top.

During the flight, wait. Just before the skier reaches the snow, tap again for the landing. A well-timed landing adds up to ten metres to the distance.

A perfect jump is 130 metres. After each one the game tells you how the take-off and the landing went. You have three jumps, and the best counts.

Jumping further

Do not tap early on the ramp. An early tap is the commonest mistake, and the first tap is the only one that counts for take-off. Wait until the skier is at the edge.

Allow for the acceleration. He is slow at the top and quick at the bottom, so the last part of the ramp goes by faster than you expect.

Keep your eye on the red marker. Tap as the skier meets it.

For the landing, watch the gap between the skier and the slope close, and tap a moment before they meet.

A longer flight lasts longer. After a great take-off, the landing tap comes later than you are used to.

It is one of the more graceful sports HTML5 games here, and each attempt takes only a few seconds.
